Since ancient times, people have used scents to access spiritual realms, because the scent has many roles. It helps the mind focus and concentrate, relaxes the body and opens the heart. Fragrances create a connection between the conscious and the unconscious, widening the space between thoughts and this space allows one to unite with the universe. Meditation is a healthy way to reduce stress, it can slow down breathing and heart rate, normalize pressure and slow down aging. It brings clarity of thoughts and opens the mind. There are many types of meditations but each helps to calm the “voices” in your mind and allows one to enjoy the present moment without worrying about the past and future.

Essential oils can be used to enhance the meditative experience. An essential oil or synergy can be used in a scented lamp that fills the entire space shortly.

Personal blends of oils can also be made and applied to different parts of the body (pulse points, third eye, or rubbed between the palms). In this case, the essential oil is not applied directly to the skin but should be mixed with some base oil first. It is very important to choose an essential oil that suits you, otherwise, you will not be able to dedicate yourself to meditation.

Essential oils, due to their high concentration in aromatherapy, are almost never used in undiluted form. Carrier oils, also called base or vegetable oils, are used to dilute essential oils for massage. They are used in aromatherapy, a complementary therapy in which various essential oils are applied to the body to aid physical and emotional health and well-being. They primarily dilute concentrated essential oils so that they can be applied to the skin without side effects. Different oils offer different properties and the choice of certain oil may depend on the desired therapeutic result. Unlike essential oils that evaporate and have an extremely strong aroma, these do not evaporate and are generally of a mild odor.

Carrier Oil Types

Sweet almond oil, apricot seed oil, grape seed oil, avocado oil, peanut oil, olive oil, macadamia nut oil, sesame oil, walnut oil are some examples of carrier oils.

There are three groups of these oils:

1. Base oils

They represent the largest part in the massage oil – almond, sesame, hazelnut, olive, jojoba, macadamia.

2. Special oils

They make up a smaller part in the massage oil (very oily or too expensive to use on its own – avocados, nightshades, wheat germs.

3. Macerated or infused oils

They are obtained by soaking herbs in a carrier oil – marigold, aloe vera, poppy seeds.

Vegetable oils can be obtained from seeds and husk in two ways. The first is cold squeezing (up to 60 ° C) which is very expensive and is done much less often than the other way, which is hot squeezing (up to 200 ° C). In the second approach, the utilization is much higher (more oil is obtained) but such oil is exposed to temperatures, pressures and complicated processes, thus it obtains lower quality. As such, the cold-pressed oils are being used in aromatherapy. These oils contain all of their vitamins, minerals and healing fatty acids.

Vegetable oils are usually rich in mono and polyunsaturated fats, which means they are liquid at room temperature. This makes them a great choice for use in bottles or sprays. Some vegetable oils are rich in linoleic acid, which studies have proven to be best for people with oily skin. Other vegetable oils like olive oil are rich in oleic acid which is best for dry skin. People with mixed skin can use a blend of all vegetable oils.

There are some saturated fats that are great as base oil, such as the always powerful coconut oil.

Carrier Oils

Carrier Oils

Most of the oils that can be obtained in the supermarket are not squeezed by the cold method, but by heating, thus losing its healing properties.

Mineral oils are not used in aromatherapy because these oils are not a natural product. Mineral oils are also thought to prevent the absorption of essential oils into the skin.

Most base oils are odorless or light smell and do not interfere with the therapeutic properties of the essential oil. They can be used alone or with other oils to nourish your skin.

The carrier oil you buy should be 100% natural and undiluted. They should also be 100% safe to use, the exceptions here are natural oils enriched with Vitamin E, because Vitamin E in oil works as a preservative. After opening the container, make sure to store the oil in a refrigerator. If the percentage of polyunsaturated fats is high, as with Starflower (Borage Officinalis) and Evening primrose (Oenothera biennis), the oil can quickly burn, so refrigerate for not more than 6-8 months and then discard. Other oils could be kept in the refrigerator for around 2 years or in a cool, dark place for at least 1 year. However, if they smell bad, throw them away!

CHARACTERISTICS:

Plant: Citrus reticulata L.

Tangerine essential oil is one of those products that are rarely bought and used because little is known about its many benefits. Find out more about this amazing product, as well as how to properly dose and use it.

Tangerine oil, logically, has a citrusy scent, which is also very sweet. Because of these properties, it blends well with other citrus fruits oils, such as lemon, orange and grapefruit. It is best known for its soothing effect, the ability to reduce anxiety, improve mood and ensure restful sleep.

It relieves nervous tension and awakens life’s joy, giving us a sense of security. Works well for general weakness of the body, exhaustion and fatigue. This essential oil also has a beneficial effect on the skin. It controls sebum secretion and cleans clogged pores. It also has antiseptic and antioxidant effects, protecting the skin from damage and inflammation, stimulates the growth of new skin cells, making it great for treating burns, stretch marks and scars.

Use and dosage of Tangerine Essential Oil

Usage of Tangerine Essential Oil

Home Disinfection

As tangerine essential oil has an antiseptic effect, it is a great choice for disinfecting surfaces and air in your home. A few drops of the oil dissolved in water can be used to wipe floors and tiles, which is a healthier and better choice than using chemical aggressive agents. This is especially important if you have young children who have just crawled.

If you add 20 drops of tangerine essential oil and 10 drops of lemon, grapefruit and cedar oil to the spray bottle, you will get a great blend for refreshing and disinfecting the air on the premises.

Stretch Mark Prevention and Mitigation

It is good to know that tangerine essential oil is a very powerful tool for preventing stretch marks, but also for alleviating those already existing. The recipe for the preparation I used during my pregnancy (very successful) involves mixing two drops of mandarin, lavender and geranium essential oils and dissolving them in a spoonful of cold-pressed coconut oil. This preparation is applied to regions that are susceptible to stretch marks, such as thighs, abdomen, breasts but also “pads” around the hips. It is very important to continue use after childbirth because right then there is an increased risk of stretch marks.

Reduction of cellulite and excess weight

This oil contains the flavonoid Nobiletin, which has the effect of reducing weight and cellulite. Applied to the skin, it affects the elimination of toxins from the body, which are responsible for the formation of “orange peel”. It also speeds up circulation, which automatically leads to better tissue oxygenation and cellulite relief.

You can prepare the cellulite remover by dissolving 5 drops of this oil in 50 ml of cold-pressed jojoba oil. Optionally, you can also add Melissa essential oil, grapefruit or rosemary to your mix, which will enhance its action. It is also important to apply the preparation daily to the areas affected by cellulite and to massage it as much as possible into the tissue. Persistence is the key to this treatment and you need to be persistent and not skip the application.

CAUTION:

For photosensitivity, avoid using tangerine essential oil before tanning. It should not come in contact with the eyes. Do not apply directly to the skin and mucous membranes. Not for oral use. Keep protected from light and heat, out of the reach of children.

High blood pressure, known as hypertension, is a health problem that occurs when there is constant blood pressure in the arteries, caused by narrowing of the arteries or some obstruction in them.

Proper nutrition and a healthier lifestyle can influence the regulation of this high pressure. Changes in diet, smoking cessation and stress reduction are the basis for long-term regulation of pressure, and medication should only be administered if these measures are not sufficient to regulate pressure.

One of the natural remedies can also be essential oils. However, you have to be careful with the ones you will use because some oils like peppermint, rosemary and thyme oil can actually raise your blood pressure and make your health condition even worse. These oils are good to use if you have low blood pressure. On the other side, there are some amazing ones for high blood pressure.

Top 3 essential oils to help you with lowering your blood pressure

Ylang-Ylang oil

A very flowery, kind of a soft smelling oil, but it’s really good for hypertension. It reduces stress, which is accompanied by this kind of a problem. You can use it both topically and in a diffuser. Another great way of using the oil is to pour 3-4 drops in a warm bath and you can relax in it.

Marjoram oil

Also a very effective oil to use for reducing high blood pressure. It can relax your whole body and you can use it the same way as ylang-ylang essential oil.

Petitgrain oil

It has similar effects like the other two, except, you can use this one internally. For example, you can put it in veggie caps, empty caps (2 drops) and use it 2-3 times a day. You can use it as an internal supplement.

No matter which of these oils you decide to use, you will improve your health condition. However, don’t forget to take care of other aspects of your hypertension and to follow your doctor’s directions.

The effect of lavender is widely known and accepted. Of all the herbs, this is probably the most used one. There is certainly no home that lacks lavender, in various forms. Sore throat, wheezing, difficulty while swallowing, these are all signs of pharyngitis that occurs in colds or flu and are most often caused by a viral infection. A slight fever may occur where the lymph nodes may be slightly enlarged. Throat inflammation can also be caused by bacteria (streptococcus) but the symptoms are more pronounced.

The medicinal properties of aromatic plants can be of great help in relieving the symptoms of sore throat. Instead of pharmaceutical drugs that contain synthetic chemical compounds and just a trace of essential oils, choose 100% natural remedy for the benefit of the whole organism.

In excessive amounts, it could cause epileptic cramps, tachycardia, a feeling of heat and dizziness. Therefore, it is not good to drink it because it could also cause the thistle to get into the body but rather rinse (sip) the throat after which you spit it out.

2. Echinacea Oil

 essential oil for sore throat

The strongest immunostimulant among the plants effectively fights germs by preventing viruses and bacteria from penetrating healthy cells. It is used for sore throat and tonsils because it relieves pain and soothes inflammation. Studies have shown that taking echinacea even at first symptoms of a cold or flu reduces the severity and duration of the disease.

It can be taken in the form of tea but fresh herb preparations (SIPF and EPS extracts) contain three times more alkylamide (immunomodulatory action) and thus have higher healing potential. For colds, echinacea is taken in higher doses during the first week. If severe fever occurs, caution should be exercised as echinacea may exacerbate symptoms.

3. Ginger Oil

Ginger Essential Oil

It has been used by Indian, Chinese and Arabic folk medicine for hundreds of years as a cure. Ginger relieves sore throat, has antiseptic, antiviral and antibacterial properties.

The thyme has a powerful effect, but at the same time, it is so mild that it is especially recommended for children with frequent respiratory infections.

TEA: Pour 2 teaspoons of dried herbs with 250 ml of boiling water. Cover and allow to stand for 5-10 minutes. Strain and sweeten with honey if desired.

It is difficult for children, especially younger ones, to get a cup of tea. It’s much easier with a syrup. 🙂

SYRUP: 4 tablespoons of thyme topped with 200 ml of boiling water. Cover and leave for about 10 minutes. The tea is quite thick so it should be filtered through a strainer and through a filter bag. All these oils are multi-beneficial and you won’t be wrong if you use them on various occasions. However, as with all other essential oils, you have to be careful and inform yourself about possible side effects.

A headache can get you tough when you least expect it and turn the easiest tasks into a painful endeavor. Severe piercing on one or both sides, sensitivity to light, nausea and weakness are some of the consequences of a strong headache that would make us just lie in bed. Migraines and headaches are beginning to torment more and more people, completely blocking normal everyday life.
Sara Crystal, a neurologist and migraine specialist, claims that most headaches are the result of stress, changes in biorhythm, hormonal imbalance and excess caffeine. In addition, a diet rich in chocolate, cheese, nitrates and additives is also a trigger for pain.
“The causes of migraines are often genetic. Every person has their own trigger. That’s why there is no universal solution for migraines.” she stated.

Common causes of headaches:

stress
fatigue
lack of sleep
alcohol abuse
some drugs
famine
allergy
head injuries
dental diseases
neurological diseases

Essential oils can help you relieve your headache and reduce the need for analgesics.
Some of these oils will help keep you focused and concentrated if you plan to remain awake, while others – with the removal of a headache – will make you sleepy.

There are lots of oils that are good for fighting a headache and here are some of the most effective ones.

Top 5 Essential Oils for Headaches

1. Peppermint Oil

peppermint oil

If you suffer from headaches, valuable drops of peppermint oil will alleviate your problems. Rub a few drops of oil on your temples and leave for between 15 and 30 minutes. The anti-inflammatory effect of the mint will relieve your pain.

2. Eucalyptus Oil

Eucalyptus Oil
Eucalyptus oil contains significant amounts of 1,8-cineole oxide. This compound is anti-inflammatory and promotes nasal mucosa cleansing. Thanks to this compound, eucalyptus oil has the strongest effect on headaches caused by sinusitis.

3. Sandalwood Oil

Sandalwood calms and relaxes the central nervous system and is optimal for headaches caused by mental tension, agitation and exhaustion. It gives inner strength, which clears the mind and brings serenity. Use it sparingly, as sandalwood is on the list of endangered plants.

4. Roman Chamomile Oil

chamomile oil for headache

Chamomile is full of esters and provides anti-inflammatory and sedative effects. It is highly recommended for very sensitive people who have a “short temper”.
This oil will help you accept the constraints and leave the expectations too high. It has a calming effect, so it is most useful against headache in the evening and at night.

5. Grapefruit Oil

grapefruit oil for headache

Grapefruit oil enjoys a reputation for diuretics and cleansers. It has proven effective in headaches caused by frustration, irritation and guilt. It eliminates pain by clearing the mind and reducing the need to quickly satisfy emotions.

How to use these oils?

The most popular technique for applying headache oil is to massage the temples, forehead and possibly the back of the neck with some of the oils mentioned above or with the oil mixture.

In addition, you can smell a piece of cotton wool on which you have applied oil or mixture, spray selected oils from the sprayer around the room you are in or apply a few drops of oil to your pillow.

We also recommend a scented bath, but keep in mind that after bathing in warm water, you can be very sleepy, so warm baths should be avoided if you want to stay awake for a long time.

Aromatherapy can help you with less frequent, milder headaches but it will not cure the underlying causes of frequent, chronic or severe headaches. If you suffer from these disorders, consult your doctor.

Stress is part of everyday life. The problem is that there is no way to avoid it completely. With constant stress throughout our lives, our bodies eventually begin to respond: headaches, insomnia, muscle cramps. All of these symptoms can sometimes lead to heart problems.

So, even if we can’t completely remove the stress from our lives, we can reduce the inconvenience that stress causes. How? By learning to deal with it better. A man is lodged and trapped in his body from which he cannot escape and in which he feels good or bad. Whenever we think, feel, or experience, our body reacts.
With the daily dynamics of life, we all need a break to keep the balance we need. It is often difficult to catch that desired respite in the fast-paced rhythm of life, so essential oils are the perfect natural strength when you need to “stop-time” and take a deep breath of peace and balance.

Aromatherapy helps with stress by directly affecting the limbic and autonomic nervous systems. When we smell something, olfactory or olfactory receptors send a message to the limbic system, which is associated with instincts, moods and emotions. This is one of the reasons why aromatherapy is good for stress, emotional and psychological problems. Stress reduction through aromatherapy is especially effective because the pleasant scent in itself has a calming effect.
